Do keep hearing about “gratitude” in the media and social media, and don't understand what the hype's about?
Often wonder what the difference between “gratitude” and “toxic positivity” is?
Do you equate being busy with being important?
Do you wonder how being grateful is different from showing off your blessings?

In this week's episode Fiongal and Jamie briefly discuss how refreshing it can be to acknowledge those moments when we don't feel quite well, and admit to ourselves (and others) when we don't feel our best or have had a bad day. On the same token, it feels good to say, “life's good” and truly mean it.

Fiongal discusses how he used to be prone to victimhood and focusing on the shortcomings, and how he's grown out of his “victim” archetype recently by practicing more gratitude and starting his days with gratitude, which has been transformatice for him. Gratefulness in the tonic and antidote to victimhood . He's found that the more grateful he is, the more great things come into his life.

Jamie, on the other hand, has found that health problems and illness has forced him to slow his life's pace, giving him more time for gratitude. Gratitude can sometimes slip, the busier we get.

We breakdown the difference between whitewashing life's problems (toxic positivity) and realistic gratitude, where we're grateful for what life throws at us for our benefit and growth. We also talk about how our overwhelm may cloud our ability to recognise the things we have to be grateful for.

As always, we share practical advice on making a “ta-da list” (the opposite of a to-do list) and forming a gratitude group with friends and like-minded people, along with other examples of acts of gratitude. We hope you find value in this episode, and we're very grateful to have you as our listeners.
